Why Endemol Uses MediaShowroom

We recently published a case study about how Endemol, a world-wide digital media production company, uses MediaShowroom to help them virtually screen their TV shows to current and prospective clients.

endemol case study screenshotEndemol was sending out DVDs (a common practice in the industry) to clients who are interested in screening a particular show. It’s an expensive and time consuming workflow that means several days elapse before a clients sees a show they wanted to screen. Then it’s up to the client to respond if they’re interested or sales team members need to track them down and find out how interested they are.

It’s a slow pre-worldwide web-esque approach to doing business. Really, it feels so old-school when you think about how hi-tech these TV shows are while they’re being filmed and in post-production. There has to be a way to bring distribution and syndication into the 21st century. For Endemol, they were ready for a change and they knew they wanted a better way to screen their shows.

A little background: Endemol is the largest independent television and digital media production company in the world. It comprises a global network of around 90 companies in more than 30 countries and is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The company annually produces over 350 series across genres, including entertainment, reality TV,  game shows, comedy, drama, sport, kids programming, factual, docu-dramas and features.

Endemol works with roughly 400 broadcasters, digital platforms and licensees worldwide. The business covers development, production, marketing, distribution, franchise management and multi-platform initiatives such as gaming, apps and digital video.

Credits include international hits such as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal, Wipeout, The Money Drop, and Your Face Sounds Familiar. The company’s growing drama and comedy portfolio includes Hell on Wheels, Hot in Cleveland, Kirstie, Leverage, Home and Away, Death Comes to Pemberley, Emmy Award winning Black Mirror, Ripper Street, Peaky Blinders, and the forthcoming World War I drama The Crimson Field for the BBC.

As one of the world’s largest independent distributors of formats and finished programming Endemol launches over 50 new entertainment formats each year on broadcast networks around the world and distributes more than 29,000 hours of content. The company’s creative teams around the world are continuously developing new ideas that are shared across the Endemol network.

Read the case study to see what Endemol has to say about how MediaShowroom has helped them in interacting with their customers, tracking interest in their content, and speeding up their sales process. We don’t want to give away the ending but *spoiler alert* we really helped them save money and their transition to the virtual screening room by MediaShowroom from sending DVDs out to clients went better and faster than they planned – they have phased out DVD distribution entirely.
